GALERIA INDIGENA

other

The Galeria Indigena occupies a corner space marked by a vibrant, hand-painted mural of indigenous faces that stands out against the muted plaster of the surrounding street. Inside, the shop serves as a direct pipeline for Wixárika artists from the mountains of Nayarit and Jalisco to sell their beadwork and yarn paintings. In the nineteen eighties, the owners began working directly with these families, bypassing middlemen to ensure the artisans received the full price for their intricate, time-consuming glass bead creations.
