Piekarnia - Cukiernia Szydłowski

food drink

The Szydlowski bakery occupies a corner building in the Wrzeszcz district of Gdansk, marked by an outdoor sign that features a stylized, golden wheat sheaf. Zygmunt Szydlowski opened this shop in nineteen forty-five, just after the war. He moved his equipment from Vilnius and started baking bread by hand in a city that was largely in ruins. His recipes for sourdough loaves and traditional cakes kept the business operating through decades of shifting political tides, and his family still runs the ovens today.
