Lucas Theatre For the Arts

The Lucas Theatre for the Arts wears a faded brick facade topped by a terracotta Spanish tile roof. Arthur Lucas opened this house in nineteen twenty-one to showcase silent films and vaudeville acts. By the nineteen seventies, the ornate plasterwork inside started crumbling, and the theater closed its doors. A group of citizens spent years raising funds to save the building from demolition, eventually reopening it in two thousand. A single original ticket booth still stands in the lobby, waiting for patrons.
