Factor's Walk

Iron bridges span the gaps between the brick buildings of Factor's Walk, connecting the bluff to the multi-level warehouses overlooking the Savannah River. In the nineteenth century, these structures served as the global headquarters for cotton brokers. Dealers stood on these walkways, sampling raw cotton bales to determine quality and price before shipping the harvest worldwide. The city's wealth surged through these very pathways, cementing Savannah as a primary Atlantic port for the trade that once defined the entire American South.
