Savannah Cotton Exchange

The Savannah Cotton Exchange building features a prominent red brick facade adorned with elaborate terracotta ornamentation and an intricate iron balcony. Designed by William G. Preston in the eighteen eighties, it served as the commercial heart of a city that was once the primary cotton port for the Atlantic coast. Merchants gathered here daily to set global prices for the crop. An elevator operator named Tom grew so frustrated with the brokers that he once locked them inside until they agreed to stop their shouting.
