Mercer Williams House Museum

The Mercer Williams House stands out for its high, wrought-iron balcony and the heavy, red brick facade that anchors the corner of Monterey Square. Jim Williams, a wealthy antiques restorer, purchased the crumbling mansion in the late nineteen sixties to salvage its architectural details. He spent two years restoring the house, but the property became famous after Williams shot and killed an employee named Danny Hansford in the grand study. Four murder trials followed, cementing the house in local lore forever.
