The Trustees Theater on Broughton Street wears a wide, arched terra cotta facade that stretches across the sidewalk, marked by a vintage marquee that still spells out its shows in bright, individual bulbs. Originally opened in nineteen forty-six as the Weis Theater, it served as a grand cinema for the city. When the theater faced demolition decades later, Savannah College of Art and Design students and faculty stepped in to restore the space, turning it into a centerpiece for the annual Savannah Film Festival.
