Poetter Hall

Poetter Hall features a distinctive exterior of rough-hewn, red-orange Savannah gray brick, topped by a steep, pointed roofline that breaks the flat rhythm of the block. Built in eighteen ninety-two as a railway armory, it served as the headquarters for the Savannah Hussars, a local cavalry troop. The building later found a second life when the Savannah College of Art and Design renovated the structure in nineteen seventy-nine, marking the very first building the college acquired for its permanent campus.
