Andrew Low House Museum

The Andrew Low House stands apart for its ironwork porches, which were forged in England and shipped to Savannah in eighteen forty-nine. Andrew Low, a wealthy cotton merchant, commissioned the architect John Norris to build this Italianate mansion. Years later, Juliette Gordon Low hosted the first Girl Scouts meeting in the house’s drawing room. The high-ceilinged rooms kept Low’s family cool during humid summers, and the original garden still grows behind the high brick walls that separate the property from the sidewalk.
