SCAD Museum of Art

The SCAD Museum of Art occupies a long, low building of pale brick that retains the jagged saw-tooth roofline of the old railway freight depot it once was. This structure anchored the Central of Georgia Railway, which moved cotton and goods through Savannah for decades. In twenty eleven, the university transformed the derelict depot into a contemporary gallery space. Workers preserved the original industrial scars, including graffiti etched into the brick by railway laborers who waited here for their shifts over a century ago.
