V1 Gallery occupies a converted butcher shop in the Meatpacking District of Copenhagen. Its facade features large industrial windows and a plain, unadorned exterior that blends into the surrounding brick buildings. When Jesper Elg founded the space in two thousand two, he aimed to bring international street art and underground subcultures into a formal gallery setting. This room hosted early exhibitions for artists like Shepard Fairey and Banksy, cementing the gallery as a central hub for contemporary urban art in Scandinavia.
