You are standing on a site with a significant industrial history. Where these green lawns and quiet pathways now sit, the factory of the famous manufacturer of vélomoteurs, or motorized bicycles, Solex once operated. After the factory closed, the city transformed the land into this public space to serve the local community. The park is now defined by its rich variety of trees. You will find specimens like the ginkgo biloba, also known as the tree of forty ecus, alongside purple maples and tulip trees from Virginia. The layout incorporates a winding path that cuts through the grass, framed by low walls made of red brick. These brick details echo the design of the surrounding residential architecture, helping the park blend seamlessly into the neighborhood. To support the local ecosystem, the municipal gardeners practice what is known as late mowing in certain sections of the park. This method allows wildflowers, including wild orchids, to complete their growth cycles. This quiet, intentional management of the landscape provides a sanctuary for pollinators and small animals, maintaining a pocket of biodiversity in the middle of a dense urban environment. TOPIC_DONE
