Neues Schloss Stuttgart

The Neues Schloss in Stuttgart features a sprawling baroque facade topped by a golden crown that rests atop the central dome. Duke Carl Eugen commissioned the palace in seventeen forty-six to project the power of his small duchy to the rest of Europe. During the final months of the second world war, firebombs gutted the interior, leaving only the exterior stone shell. Workers later rebuilt the structure, which now serves as the administrative headquarters for the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
