Wilhelm Palais

The Wilhelm Palais features a cream-colored facade with neoclassical columns and a prominent central pediment facing the park. King Wilhelm the First of Wurttemberg commissioned the building in eighteen thirty-four as a residence for his two daughters. During the final months of the second world war, fire gutted the interior, leaving only the outer walls standing. The city rebuilt the structure in the early nineteen sixties to house the public library, which remained there until two thousand eleven.
