Stiftskirche, Stuttgart

The Stiftskirche dominates the square with its two mismatched towers. The shorter, older north tower dates to the thirteenth century, while its taller partner reflects a Gothic reconstruction from the fifteen hundreds. During the Second World War, firebombs gutted the interior and left only the stone shell standing. Workers salvaged the medieval limestone blocks to rebuild the structure as it appeared before the destruction. Today, the church holds the crypt of the Counts and Dukes of Württemberg, including the tomb of Ulrich.
