The State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg sits in the Oberer Schlossgarten as a sharp, glass-walled cube. It replaced the ornate, royal interiors of the Old Castle with transparency, a design choice from nineteen sixty-one intended to reflect the democratic identity of a new post-war state. Architect Vinzenz Goerz encased the debating chamber in a facade of glass, ensuring the public could see their representatives at work. Inside, the floor plan focuses on a central, circular assembly area where politicians deliberate under an open ceiling.
