Kö-Bogen

The Kö-Bogen complex features two six-story buildings wrapped in white limestone and glass, separated by a long, deep cut that exposes the underground transit tunnels. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the structure sits where the Jan-Wellem-Platz transit hub once channeled thousands of buses and trams. In nineteen-ninety-two, city planners decided to bury that traffic underground. The project replaced a tangle of overhead wires and concrete platforms with this sharp, geometric composition that creates a canyon-like walkway through the heart of the city.
