The Kö-Galerie features a striking glass-and-steel barrel roof that stretches over a long, climate-controlled interior walkway. It opened in nineteen eighty-six to connect the luxury of the Königsallee with the city’s newer retail demands. The architect, Walter Brune, designed the space to move shoppers through a sequence of levels beneath the expansive curved ceiling. Before this mall arrived, the site held a sprawling newspaper printing plant. The presses stopped running so the city could focus on high-end fashion and commerce.
