The storefront displays a simple white sign with bold black lettering, marking the spot where Naniwa Noodles and Soups sits on Oststrasse. Decades ago, this street became the heart of the Japanese business community in Düsseldorf. When Naniwa opened in the nineteen eighties, it offered authentic ramen to a city that primarily knew Japanese food through high-end sushi bars. It remains a narrow, bustling room where workers and residents crowd onto wooden benches to eat steaming bowls of tonkotsu broth.
