Sándor Palace

The Sándor Palace stands out with its pale, neoclassical facade and the row of iron gas lamps lining the corner of the Szent György Square. Since two thousand three, this building has served as the official residence and workplace of the President of Hungary. During the Second World War, Allied bombing raids reduced the structure to a hollowed-out shell, leaving only the exterior walls standing. For decades, the site remained a ruin, a boarded-up reminder of the city's destruction before its full restoration.
