Grand Hotel Villa de France

The Grand Hotel Villa de France is defined by its sprawling, terraced gardens that overlook the white rooftops of the medina. In the early twentieth century, this hotel became the preferred retreat for Henri Matisse. He stayed in room thirty-five, where he captured the shifting Mediterranean light in his famous paintings of the Tangier landscape.
