Pelplin Abbots' House

The Pelplin Abbots House stands out with its ornate, stepped gable and the distinct red brick facade that dominates the street corner. Built in the late seventeenth century, this residence served as the urban headquarters for the powerful Cistercian abbots from nearby Pelplin. When the abbots traveled to Gdansk on ecclesiastical or political business, they stayed here in high style. During the Prussian occupation, the building was seized, stripped of its original purpose, and later served various secular functions as a private townhouse.
