Small Mill

The Small Mill in Gdańsk sits apart from its neighbors with a steep, red-tiled roof and a heavy stone base that rises directly out of the Radunia Canal. Teutonic Knights ordered the construction of this brick structure in the fourteen hundreds to power grain grinding wheels with the canal water. During the Siege of Gdańsk in nineteen forty-five, fire gutted the interior, leaving only the exterior walls. Craftsmen later rebuilt the roof, and the building now houses the Amber Museum.
