Zaułek Zachariasza Zappio is a narrow brick passage marked by a stone plaque embedded in the wall. It honors a seventeenth-century merchant named Zachariasz Zappio who lived in a nearby house and served as a city official. While many alleys in Gdańsk disappeared after the Second World War, this one survived because of its distinct position between historical tenements. It remains a quiet shortcut that still bears the name of a man who managed the city’s finances over three hundred years ago.
