The stone facade of Babbity Bowster features a carved stone head peering out from above the doorway, a remnant salvaged from an earlier building on this site. This structure dates to seventeen ninety, built as a grand townhouse for a wealthy merchant before it became a tenement. In the nineteen eighties, it faced demolition until a group of local figures stepped in to save it. They kept the original fireplaces and wooden floors while turning the ground floor into a traditional Scottish music pub.
