The Chatham County Superior Court stands apart with its massive, rusticated granite base and the towering classical columns that define its facade. Built in nineteen oh six, the structure replaced a Victorian courthouse that could no longer accommodate the growing legal demands of Savannah. It served as the center of the local justice system for nearly a century. During the nineteen eighties, the building became the primary setting for the murder trials of Jim Williams, a story chronicled in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
