Gefion Fountain

The Gefion Fountain consists of four bronze bulls straining against a plow pulled by the Norse goddess Gefion. It is the largest monument in Copenhagen. The fountain commemorates the legend that King Gylfi of Sweden promised Gefion as much land as she could plow in a single night. She transformed her four sons into giant oxen and carved the land of Zealand away from Sweden, dropping it into the sea to form the island where Copenhagen now stands.
