The heavy wooden door at the Galerie Interart sits flush against the narrow, crooked stone of the Bohnenviertel. This district was once the home of Stuttgart's poorest laborers and the bean farmers who gave the area its name. The gallery space occupies a building that survived the intense bombing raids of nineteen forty-four, which leveled most of the surrounding city center. Today, the gallery owner keeps the small, white-walled interior focused on contemporary fine art amidst the district's restored medieval skeleton.
