Brahmpol Road

other

Brahmpol Road marks the historic boundary of the old walled city of Udaipur. It takes its name from the ancient gate, or pol, that once controlled entry into this part of the settlement. For centuries, this road served as the primary transit artery for merchants and pilgrims traveling toward the city center from the west. Today, the street retains its narrow, winding character, squeezed between dense limestone buildings that date back to the time of the maharanas, housing generations of local families.
