Guthrie Artist Studios

The Guthrie Artist Studios building features a heavy, dark brick exterior with arched windows that suggest its original purpose as a turn of the century stable. In the nineteen seventies, artists began moving into the vacant space, transforming the former carriage house into a collection of workspaces. Painter David Dornan and sculptor Paul McCarthy worked within these walls. The studios remain a rare, quiet anchor for local creators in a neighborhood that has shifted toward high-density apartments and rapid commercial development.
