The Frauentorturm stands out as a massive, circular brick tower guarded by a steep, pointed roof that looms over the southern entrance to Nuremberg’s old city. It served as a vital part of the medieval fortifications, built in the fourteenth century to protect the bustling trade routes leading into town. In fifteen forty-three, the city council converted the tower into a prison, locking away local citizens who broke the city's strict codes. Its thick masonry wall still bears the weight of that history.
