Museums Nuremberg - Albrecht Dürer House

The half-timbered upper stories of the Albrecht Dürer House overhang the cobblestones of the Tiergartnertor square. This was the home and workshop of Germany’s most famous Renaissance artist from fifteen oh nine until his death in fifteen twenty-eight. Dürer bought the building for a steep price, choosing this spot for its proximity to the castle. During the final months of the second world war, bombs tore through the house, yet the structure remained largely intact, surviving as a rare original artifact of Nuremberg.
