The Hauptmarkt features a tall, gold-gilded spire known as the Beautiful Fountain, which stands out for its intricate lattice of stone figures. This square serves as the central marketplace of Nuremberg, functioning as a site for trade since the fourteenth century. In fifteen thirty-nine, a local goldsmith named Heinrich Kuhn cast the bronze rings set into the fountain’s iron fence. Legend claims that turning the gold ring brings luck, a tradition visitors still practice today while locals pass by on their way to work.
