Machhörndl Coffee: Espresso Brew Bar

food drink

The black-painted storefront on Obere Schmiedgasse stands out against the pale, historical facades of Nuremberg. Inside, the long wooden counter serves as the center of the room. A coffee roastery occupies the back, filling the space with the scent of beans roasted on-site daily. Before Machhörndl opened here in two thousand thirteen, owner Heinz Machhörndl spent years traveling through Scandinavia, experimenting with light-roast methods. He brought those specific techniques back to Bavaria, challenging local preferences for dark, bitter coffee with his brighter, acidic profiles.
