The Cafe Wanderer and Bieramt occupies a narrow, timber-framed building wedged into the northern edge of the old city. Its most recognizable feature is the weathered wooden shutter that hangs above the street, often propped open to serve beer directly to the crowds milling on the cobblestones. The structure dates back to the sixteenth century, surviving the heavy bombing of nineteen forty-five that leveled much of the surrounding neighborhood. It operates today as a public space where history blends with the local beer culture.
