Dürer-Pirckheimer-Brunnen

The Dürer-Pirckheimer-Brunnen features a bronze figure of a woman holding two cornucopias, standing atop a stone pillar. Built in nineteen twenty-one, the fountain honors the friendship between the artist Albrecht Dürer and the humanist Willibald Pirckheimer. Sculptor Wilhelm Nida-Rümelin designed the bronze to sit on a base salvaged from an earlier fountain nearby. During the Second World War, the bronze figure disappeared. Decades later, workers found it hidden away, and it returned to its original place in nineteen eighty-four.
