Obere Krämersgasse is a narrow, winding cobblestone lane defined by the towering, half-timbered merchant houses that lean toward each other overhead. During the Middle Ages, this street served as a primary artery for Nuremberg’s spice and textile traders moving goods between the Pegnitz river and the castle. In nineteen forty-five, Allied bombing raids leveled nearly every structure here. Local architects later reconstructed these facades using original stone foundations, aiming to preserve the precise, claustrophobic density of the city’s medieval commercial district.
