Stadtmuseum im Fembo-Haus

The five-story sandstone facade of the Fembo-Haus stands out on the Obere Krämersgasse with its distinctive Renaissance gables and ornate, early baroque window frames. Built between fifteen ninety-one and fifteen ninety-six, this house served as a wealthy merchant's residence before becoming a map publishing house in the seventeenth century. Philipp Wilhelm von Harsdörffer once used these rooms to host the Order of the Flowers, a literary society that gathered here to debate German poetry and language while the city thrived outside.
