Preysingstraße

Preysingstraße remains one of the few places in Munich where the eighteenth century still holds the ground. A row of low, white-plastered houses with steeply pitched roofs lines the street, mirroring the humble scale of the village that once existed here. When the city began to expand in the nineteenth century, these small homes were intended for day laborers and hand-millers. Johann Baptist Preysing, who gave the street its name, owned the land when the city finally swallowed the old village whole.
