The Cafe Troedelmarkt sits on a slender, timber-framed island wedged between two channels of the Pegnitz River. This building clings to the edge of the water, defined by its steep, blackened roof and narrow, leaning facade that seems to defy the river's flow. It occupies the site of the old copper smiths' workshops, where artisans once hammered metal amidst the constant rushing of the currents. Today, the copper hammers are silent, replaced by the clinking of coffee cups and low chatter.
