Museum Tucherschloss und Hirsvogelsaal

The Tucherschloss features a steep, stepped gable roof that marks it as a Renaissance townhouse amidst the surrounding city. It served as the summer residence for the Tucher family, one of Nuremberg's most prominent merchant clans. In fifteen forty-four, when Anton Tucher commissioned the Hirsvogelsaal nearby, he filled it with elaborate wood carvings and paintings intended for private social gatherings. While the rest of the city suffered heavy destruction during the war, these specific interiors survived because the artworks were stored elsewhere.
