Baluard del Príncep

The Baluard del Príncep stands as a jagged, ochre-colored stone wedge jutting out toward the Mediterranean. It served as the primary defense for Palma against pirates and naval attacks for centuries. In fifteen seventy-five, master engineer Giacomo Palearo Fratin designed these massive walls to withstand modern artillery fire. During the siege of sixteen fifty-one, the platform proved its worth when local gunners fired relentlessly from this very spot, eventually forcing invading ships to retreat back into the open sea.
