Edificio Casasayas

Two identical buildings face each other across the street, distinguished by the flowing, organic stone balconies that ripple like waves across their facades. Built between nineteen oh eight and nineteen eleven, the Casasayas buildings were commissioned by Josep Casasayas Casajuana to house a bakery on the ground floor and residences above. Their architect, Francesc Roca i Simó, used curving lines and natural forms to depart from the straight angles of the era. The heavy iron-wrought railings still mimic the movement of vines or water.
