Puente de la Puerta del Camp

historic

The stone archway of the Puerta del Camp remains as one of the few surviving fragments of Palma's medieval city walls. While the rest of the fortifications were dismantled in the early twentieth century to allow the city to expand, this gate stayed put. It served as a primary entrance for travelers arriving from the rural eastern plains. Inside the masonry, you can spot a small niche that once held a protective religious figure to watch over those entering the city.
