Sa Llotja

Sa Llotja stands out with its six slender, octagonal towers that frame a singular, massive hall inside. It served as the headquarters for the Merchants Guild of Palma during the fifteenth century. Master builder Guillem Sagrera designed the structure to handle the intense trade of the Mediterranean, creating a space where merchants negotiated deals beneath soaring stone arches. Once, a local official famously stood here and declared that the building existed to prove that trade mattered as much as prayer in Palma.
