Centro Cultural Can Balaguer

The heavy wooden door at Can Balaguer hides a courtyard floor paved with uneven, darkened stones that seem to swallow the city noise. This house began as a fourteenth century stone structure before being reshaped by the merchant family who owned it for generations. In the eighteenth century, the house gained its ornate, sweeping staircase and the distinct baroque facade that faces the street. Josep Balaguer bought the property in the nineteen twenties, filling it with his massive collection of musical scores and antiques.
