The center of Plaça de la Reina features a fountain where four bronze dolphins support a central stone pillar. This square sits at the bottom of the long slope leading down from the cathedral, serving as the formal gateway between the old city and the harbor. Back in nineteen fifty-two, the city council cleared out old, cluttered buildings here to create this open space. They wanted a grand entrance for the visitors arriving by ship, so they designed this intersection to handle the traffic.
