Can Barceló is a distinct, dark brick building marked by a wide, arched entrance that stretches across the street level. It once served as a warehouse for the Barceló family, who built their shipping empire from these docks in the nineteenth century. In nineteen twenty-five, a massive fire gutted the interior, leaving the facade standing while the business shifted elsewhere. Today, the local government operates the space as a public library, housing shelves of books behind those same scorched exterior walls.
