Passeig Dalt Murada

The Passeig Dalt Murada follows the top of the Renaissance-era defensive walls that once shielded Palma from pirate raids and naval blockades. These sandstone ramparts tower above the city streets, separating the modern bustle from the quiet, limestone-paved path where soldiers once kept watch. In eighteen eighty-seven, a local merchant named Joan Lluís Ripoll started a campaign to save these walls from demolition, arguing that the city needed to preserve its connection to the sea. He succeeded, and the path remains.
