L'Hort del Rei

L'Hort del Rei sits between the Almudaina Palace and the city walls, defined by a series of cascading water channels and fountains. While it feels like an ancient garden, the current layout dates to the nineteen sixties. King Jaume the Second originally established it as a fruit orchard for the royal residence during the fourteenth century. It provided fresh produce for the court until the garden fell into neglect and was paved over for urban roads before the municipal reconstruction restored its royal identity.
